Sarga Skills with Tracey Windmill

Sarga Silks is a course offered for licensed Massage Therapists to add a unique modality to their practice using a Silk (a piece of fabric that is 4.5ft by 12ft) and can be incorporated into a floor mat or massage table routine.

Loosely based on the Thai Massage Modality, which uses the Pa Kao Ma, a traditional cloth that aids the stretching of muscles and joints, Sarga Silks incorporates using silk/fabric to stretch specific body parts.

Students will learn how to apply the Silks by wrapping around the body, such as the neck, arms, or legs, and then applying slow, gentle traction and lifting. This specialized stretching targets connective tissue layers with the goal of reducing pain, restoring mobility, and enhancing the body’s natural healing capabilities.

In addition to the application of the Silk, gentle rocking is also introduced, which can produce a calming effect by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. This system counteracts stress and anxiety by promoting relaxation and also allows for muscle release.

This technique can be utilized in Bodywork sessions to reduce back, neck, and shoulder pain, hip, knee, and other joint problems, as well as tension in major muscle groups.

As part of the course, therapists learn how to position themselves when applying the silk and adding a stretch without extra strain.

Sarga Silks Course will provide students with a knowledge of the effectiveness of applying Silk techniques.
