Course Description

This foundational course introduces students to the art and philosophy of Shiatsu through the Masunaga approach, a style that emphasizes both energetic awareness and the use of body leverage for effortless application. Students will explore the history of Shiatsu, its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the evolution of the Masunaga system.

Through guided practice and theory, students will learn two types of energy diagnostics and how to interpret and balance these patterns through the meridian pathways. Emphasis is placed on developing body mechanics, grounding, and sensitivity—the cornerstones of effective Shiatsu practice.

By the end of the course, students will understand the principles of energy flow, gain confidence in locating and working with the twelve main meridians, and begin to experience the profound connection between practitioner and receiver that defines Shiatsu.
