3. Academic Exemptions & Course Credit

Students who have previously studied at another massage therapy school, college, or university may be eligible for course exemptions.

To be considered, students must provide:

  • Official transcripts
  • Course outlines or syllabus

How Exemptions Work

If an exemption is approved:

  • The student will not be required to complete exams or assignments for that course
  • The student may still be required to audit (sit in on) portions of the course, especially where content is specific to massage therapy

For example:
A student who has completed college or university-level Anatomy & Pathology may not need to retake the full course. However, massage-specific components, such as Palpation Clinics, are still required and must be completed.

Financial Adjustments

  • Approved exemptions will result in a reduction of tuition, based on the discounted value of the exempted course(s) within the program
  • Any non-exempt portions of the course (such as practical or massage-specific training) must still be completed and paid for

4. Enrollment Requirements

To enroll, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing English
  • Possess a high school, college, or university degree, or demonstrate sufficient and appropriate life experience for the chosen program
  • Complete the online registration form
  • Pay the full tuition fee, or a non-refundable registration deposit

Students agree to follow the school’s general and financial terms upon enrollment.

Online students must have:

  • Ensure competency in each subject
  • Confirm readiness for professional practice

All diplomas, certificates, and course completions are based on meeting required evaluation standards.

Grading System

Ecole Setsuko uses a Pass / Fail (P / F) grading system.

  • Some instructors may use numerical grades during the course
  • Final results will be recorded as:
    • Pass (P)
    • Fail (F)

Passing Requirements

To successfully pass a course, students must:

  • Achieve a minimum of 60% (Pass) on all required evaluations
  • Complete all required assignments, exams, and practical components

Online Course Requirements

For online courses (such as Anatomy & Physiology):

  • Students are required to complete weekly quizzes
  • Quizzes must be completed on time and each week

Important:

  • While these quizzes may not count toward the final grade, they are mandatory
  • Failure to complete weekly quizzes will result in:
    • The course needing to be retaken, and
    • No certificate being issued

Program Progression

  • Students must receive a Pass (P) in all prerequisite courses before moving to the next level
  • All required courses and clinics must be passed in order to graduate

Important

  • If required work is not completed, the school cannot confirm competency
  • This may prevent:
    • Course completion
    • Progression to the next level
    • Graduation
